Originally designed as a half-door vehicle from its assembly line in West Virginia, under previous ownership it underwent significant transformations during early 2023. The project involved retrofitting its body onto the frame and drivetrain of a 1992 Dodge Ramcharger. This resulted in a powertrain swap that saw the Trail Duster inherit the 360ci Magnum V8 engine, A518 four-speed automatic transmission, and NP241 dual-range transfer case from the Ramcharger, effectively turning it into a robust, full-time 4x4 machine.
