The 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 is a classic American muscle car, manufactured at the peak of the post-war automobile boom. This distinctive two-seater coupè, introduced four years after Studebaker's bankruptcy and merge with Packard, stands out for its innovative design that defied automotive norms of the time. With its fiberglass body over a steel frame produced in cooperation with Raymond Loewy Associates, the Avanti R2 boasts a lightweight construction unlike any other Studebaker before it. Under the hood resides the powerful 4.8L V8 engine, outputting 280 horsepower - an impressive feat for its era. Its unique appearance is further accentuated by distinctive features such as the absence of door handles (replaced with push-out buttons), flush front bumpers, and a wrap-around windshield. Only around 350 Avanti models were produced between 1963 and 1967 before Studebaker's cessation of automobile production, making it an increasingly rare and sought-after classic.
