Meyers Manx
The Meyers Manx is an iconic fiberglass-bodied sport utility vehicle produced between 1966 and 1971 by creator Bruce Meyers. This distinctive model stands out with its unique Baja Bug appearance, reminiscent of the Volkswagen Beetle's silhouette but with a sleeker, more aerodynamic design. It was born from Meyers' desire to create an off-road vehicle inspired by his love for the California coast and the need for accessibility in challenging terrains. The Manx was initially available as a kit car, allowing enthusiasts to build their own vehicles using fiberglass body components and a Beetle chassis with rear-engine layout powered by an air-cooled flat four engine. Its distinct features include round headlights integrated into the front bumpers, a raked windshield, and a distinctive roof shape that tapers elegantly towards the rear. The absence of a roof in some variants added to its allure as one of the first mass-produced dune buggies.
