1972 Volkswagen Type 181

The offered vehicle is a historic 1972 Volkswagen Type 181, often referred to as the Volkswagen Thing. This particular model, finished in green with black vinyl upholstery, was originally intended for the Mexican market but found its way to the United States in June of 2021. It was subsequently sold on Bring A Trailer in November of that same year. The vehicle is powered by a stout 1.5-liter flat-four engine paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, and features a distinctive black canvas soft top which can be folded down for open-air driving.
